BTS Service Laboratory Workflow

Receiving/Inspection
Samples are delivered by all the major freight/courier services, US Postal Service and hand delivered by customers. They are removed from the shipping containers, and verified that the samples are in good condition (I.e. No leaks, breakage)
Sample Entry
Customer Service checks to see that information supplied about the sample is correct, or if more is necessary, and the sample is entered into our CCdb/ATLAS Laboratory Information Management System(LIMS). The system assigns the sample a unique number, so that it is tracked, and the proper testing package performed.
Sample Testing
Samples are put through the lab and tested as specified. Samples are processed in batches, and each instrument uploads the test results to the LIMS. The Lab Technicians verify that testing is complete and uploaded successfully, and sends the batch report to the analyst for evaluation.
Evaluation and Analysis
The Analyst now transfers the data into an evaluation database, and performs an auto analyze, in which the LIMS compares the data to a predefined alarm set. The analyst then examines and analyzes the data and requests further testing to define the problem if necessary. Observations and recommendations are given, and the sample data is transferred to the archive database, and to the reporting databases.
Reporting
Reporting the data involves printing color coded reports, formatting and sending data to customers via e-mail, web upload, fax, and/or telephone notification.
